| The group was formed in 1994 by the then Non Stipendiary Priest the Rev John Henstridge, who with a few (about twelve) concerned members of the congregation who felt that the sick, depressed, bereaved
etc. needed prayers said for them, not only at church services but regularly through out the week. |
| In 1996 as Father John was about to leave St Augustine's, he suggested that the Prayer Group need not be led by the clergy but could function equally well led by lay members of the congregation. It was therefore decided that each member would take a turn at preparing and leading the prayers. |
| The group now consists of eleven dedicated
Christians who meet on the second Monday of each month at seven forty five P.M. in St. Augustine's Church. |
| The main aim of the group is to pray for any one who asks for our prayers for, themselves, their family members, or for friends, who are sick in body, mind or spirit. |
| Our concerns are shared by each and every member and we continue to support each other with prayer and fellowship. Any new additions are quickly passed on to each member and new names can be added at any time via the web site. |
| The laying on of hands is now a regular addition to our church worship. |
