MOTHERS UNION
The Branch of the Mothers' Union at St Augustine's is part of this worldwide Christian organisation with more than a million members in 70 countries. Our faith in Christ unites us in our shared belief in the importance of supporting family life.

Membership of the MU at St Augustine's is too small to encourage regular monthly meetings and we therefore involve ourselves in supporting family life projects in the parish, the deanery and in Guildford Diocese. We certainly need more members and welcome all Baptised Christians - old and young, men and women, single, married, divorced or widowed.

Local activities include the Marriage Preparation classes run jointly by the Aldershot Cluster, our outreach to families in the parish for summer outings have been enjoyed and we also support the local Women's Refuge and a drop in centre for teenagers in Aldershot.

Mothers' Union work in prisons throughout the UK is widely acclaimed and includes setting up Branches for women in prison, helping in Visitors' Centres and members at St Augustine's help staff the creche at Coldingley Prison, encouraging children to enjoy visiting an absent parent and fulfilling the Mothers' Union's 5th Object "Helping those whose family life has met with adversity".

The ‘fun' side of the Mothers' Union is not forgotten as we invite the parish to annual socials, including the Garden Party following Mass to celebrate 90 years of MU at St Augustine's and this year's summer walk and pub supper was a great success.

Lots more information about the Mothers' Union can be found at www.TheMothersUnion.org and the Branch Leader at St Augustine's Aldershot would welcome enquiries and comments from anyone who would like to get in touch. Please e-mail her at MU@StAugustine-Aldershot.org.uk
