First beginnings

The following letter tells, in immaculate copper-plate handwriting - the very origins of the Anglican Church in North Town.

Rev. West's reference to ' a remote part of my Parish' is amusing and significant.  It reflects an Aldershot attitude towards the Hamlet of North Town that prevailed until 1939 and still lingers somewhat today.

The site the Rev. West refers to was a plot of land in North Lane immediately opposite the junction with Canning Road.
